Thai rider Ratthapark Wilairot is ready for his third season in the World Championship following the official launch of the 2009 Thai Honda PTT SAG campaign.The Plaza Athenne Hotel in Bangkok played host to the official presentation of the 2009 Thai Honda PTT SAG project on Monday afternoon, with 250cc rider Ratthapark Wilairot officially presented to more than 250 journalists as an agreement between A. P. Honda and Stop And Go Racing Team was signed.
The A. P. Honda party was represented by Mr. Zenjiro Sakurai, and Stop and Go by Mr. Eduardo Perales, the team’s owner.
Local dignitaries and business partners also present included, Mr. Kanokpan, the Thai Governor for Sports Development; and Mr. Thongchai Wongsawan, President of the Thai Motorcycling Federation, alongside representatives of oil company PTT, Thai telecommunications company AIS and The Pizza Company.
Ratthapark Wilairot is the only Thai rider in the World Championship, giving him a huge profile in his native country. He had a good season in 2008, as one of the few riders to finish each race and this year he aims for a top five position.
The Thai star has been joined in the Stop And Go Racing Team structure for 2009 by Spaniard Hector Faubel.
